Join Miami Waterkeeper and Diver's Paradise to protect Miami's underwater world. Snorkel enthusiasts and conservation champions are invited on Saturday, August 3 or Saturday, September 14 for a Snorkel Clean Up that involves removing marine debris from the Key Biscayne's coral reefs.
Participants should be comfortable swimming in open ocean conditions. Volunteers will wear life vests during the snorkel; however, standing on the bottom is not permitted to protect sensitive ecosystems.
The boat departs depart from Diver's Paradise at 10:00 a.m. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. and the entire outing lasts approximately 4 hours. All participants pay a $119 fee which covers the boat trip and snorkel gear rental (mask, fins, snorkel and life vest). Feel free to bring your own snorkel gear.
While removing debris, volunteers can also contribute valuable data through Miami Waterkeeper's Citizen Science Fish ID program (optional). This is a family-friendly event, with children aged 8-15 welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Space is limited, so register in advance. Select the August 3rd or September 14th "Snorkel Only" Clean Up with Miami Waterkeeper event on the Diver's Paradise trip calendar.
