International Coastal Cleanup at Matheson Hammock
This event has passed.
Lend a hand and make a difference at the International Coastal Cleanup at Matheson Hammock Park on Saturday, September 21. This global event unites millions of volunteers to tackle marine debris, and you can be a part of it.
Join fellow Miami residents in cleaning up the shoreline and surrounding areas of Matheson Hammock Park. Organizers will provide garbage bags, gloves and data collection cards, with a special penguin-themed tote bag commemorating your participation (while supplies last). Community service hours are available for those who need them.
Registration and waivers are required for participation. A waiver will be provided on-site, but for volunteers under 18 attending without a parent or guardian, a pre-signed waiver is mandatory.
Here are some important things to keep in mind:
- Wear weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for mixed terrain.
- Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses) is highly recommended.
- Feel free to bring your own reusable gloves and a bucket to aid in the cleanup.
- Organizers encourage using refillable water bottles to minimize waste.
Limited Edition T-Shirts:
Commemorate your participation with a special 2024 International Coastal Cleanup t-shirt. Pre-order by August 30 to guarantee arrival before the event.
Spearheaded globally by the Ocean Conservancy, VolunteerCleanup.org organizes Miami-Dade County’s local participation in this worldwide event with 60+ shoreline cleanups around the county.
