Romance and Miami go hand in hand. Horseback riding on the beach at sunrise, champagne toasts at a subtropical winery, oceanfront dinners and a spa day for two … these are just some of our favorite romantic things to do in Greater Miami & Miami Beach. With that in mind, we’ve put together the ideal three-day weekend itinerary for you and your loved one.
You’ll start your day in South Dade, Miami’s countryside, about an hour southwest of Downtown Miami. Your first stop is Schnebly Redland's Winery & Brewery, a romantic destination in Homestead with a novel, subtropical approach to winemaking. Enjoy a wine tasting featuring blends made from exotic tropical fruit, including mango, lychee, passion fruit, guava, star fruit, coconut and even avocado. The lush grounds include the winery’s tasting room, the onsite Miami Brewing Company’s taproom, the farm-to-table Redlander Restaurant and a field with a covered picnic area that regularly hosts live music on weekends. For an extra-special occasion, opt for their anniversary package, which includes a welcome glass of sparkling wine, a walking tour of the winery, a wine tasting and a charcuterie board for two paired with a bottle of sparkling wine.
Next, take a romantic stroll through Redland Koi Gardens, a lush, tranquil 2.5-acre garden in Homestead, where walkways wind beneath a canopy of tropical fruit trees leading to peaceful koi ponds. Relax amid the natural landscape of oak trees and rare plants while reconnecting with each other.
A longtime favorite South Dade restaurant, Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Bar marries the chef’s Miami Cuban heritage with her passion for farm-to-table cooking gleaned from an apprenticeship in Napa Valley early in her career. With a menu that changes seasonally, recent favorites include crispy panko goat cheese with fig jam and prosciutto, New Zealand rack of lamb, and grilled butterflied branzino with olive oil and lemon. The restaurant’s extensive wine list highlights California estates, including Duckhorn, Newton and Coppola. A favorite special occasion restaurant for Miami locals, it makes for the perfect romantic dinner date.
To cap off your day, make the 25-minute drive to Bill Sadowski Park & Nature Center in Palmetto Bay for an evening of stargazing. The 30-acre park is an observatory site for the Southern Cross Astronomical Society, which offers complimentary stargazing programs, lectures and telescopes to park visitors.
Start your morning with an exhilarating helicopter ride over Miami aboard Heli Air at Miami Executive Airport and experience the iconic Downtown Miami skyline and glittering ocean from a bird’s-eye view. Its most popular private package spans the area’s most stunning sites, including Matheson Preserve, Downtown Miami, Key Biscayne, Fisher Island and the shores of Miami Beach in about 30 minutes aboard a brand-new Robinson R44 helicopter.
Cecconi’s Miami Beach, tucked away in the chic digs of Soho Beach House, is a lovely Italian eatery set in an outdoor courtyard with sea foam and cream-striped tile floors and trellises crawling with vines. With comfy seating and twinkling lights overhead, this Mid Beach restaurant is the perfect spot for a romantic lunch. You can’t go wrong with whipped ricotta and truffle honey crostini, calamari fritti, beef tartare and spaghetti with lobster. Pair your meal with a bottle of rosé and you’ll have everything you need for romance.
For a cheeky afternoon diversion in South Beach, explore the Naomi Wilzig Erotic Art Museum, home to one of the largest collections of fine erotic art, with over 4,000 pieces dating back to 300 B.C. Past exhibits have featured erotic art from Rembrandt to Helmut Newton and collections borrowed from the Kinsey Institute.
After your afternoon of romance and culture, enjoy dinner and a movie at Rooftop Cinema Club in the heart of South Beach. On a sixth-floor rooftop at the western end of Lincoln Road, you’ll have panoramic views of the Miami skyline at sunset before your movie under the stars. There’s a full bar and food menu, a lawn with a lounge area, and games to enjoy before the screening. At showtime, sit back and relax in cozy Adirondack chairs with wireless headphones and a box of popcorn. Rooftop Cinema Club’s movie lineup includes classics from all eras.
What’s more romantic than horseback riding on the beach? With Palomino Ranch, you can book a one-hour tour at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, between Downtown Miami and Key Biscayne, and trot across the shoreline and through enchanting beachside trails. You’ll soak up the natural beauty together and learn about the park’s fascinating history and local wildlife from an experienced guide.
After your adventurous morning, spend the rest of the day relaxing at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach. Snag a pair of lemon yellow lounge chairs overlooking Biscayne Bay near the zero-entry pool and succumb to the gorgeous views. This hip and heavenly spot boasts an outdoor water ritual with a deluge shower and an indoor stadium-style hammam, sauna and water journey. Enjoy the grounds complimentary when booking a treatment at the full-service spa (which stays open until 10 p.m.) or purchase a day pass. The Standard Spa also offers a wide range of fitness classes, relationship workshops, yoga and Pilates. Enjoy lunch on your lounge chairs, an alfresco sunset dinner at onsite Lido Bayside and a nightcap at the intimate Monterrey Bar for a romantic conclusion to yet another day in paradise.
