Situated just a few hundred yards from the marina, Pelican Island is a bird sanctuary and nature preserve where you can spy brown pelicans, cormorants and other marine life, like dolphins and manatees. The island is home to a sand volleyball court, picnic tables and barbecues, making it perfect for an afternoon spent lounging on the shore, swimming, or paddleboarding through the shallow, gentle waters of Biscayne Bay.
