Come for Miami Shores’ small-town charm with close proximity to Miami’s urban center. The lush, residential village – located only 20 minutes north of Downtown Miami by car and six miles from Miami Beach – is a bastion of Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival and Miami Modern (MiMo) architecture.
Developed in the 1920s as one of Miami’s original neighborhoods, Miami Shores boasts vistas of Biscayne Bay, quaint churches, tranquil parks and wide, tree-lined streets.
Head to Miami Shores’ downtown area, known as Miami Shores Village. The recently renovated shopping district offers fun things to do like wine and beer tastings, plus an assortment of boutiques, markets and homegrown eateries serving staples such as sushi, pizza and sweets. Look for Art in Public Places installations like Optimist Park Sculpture Garden, featuring towering oaks along with works by celebrated metal sculptor Alberto Cavalieri. Meander the walking path at Bayfront Park (not to be confused with Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami) for sky-reflecting water views lined with many graceful palm trees.
