Hialeah is a thriving community in northwest Miami-Dade County. It’s famously home to Hialeah Park Casino, where visitors come to enjoy poker, slot machines, simulcasts of horse racing, and live entertainment. A Hialeah landmark for nearly a century, the 200-acre grounds are also an Audubon Bird Sanctuary, where pink flamingos roam.
For outdoor recreation, Amelia Earhart Park is a sprawling oasis with multiple lakes for wakeboarding and paddleboarding, as well as soccer fields, sand volleyball courts, mountain biking trails, a playground and a petting zoo.
Hialeah is also home to the burgeoning Leah Arts District, a mural-splashed area filled with art galleries, food trucks, local boutiques, hip thrift shops and antiques stores. The district often hosts block parties with live music to bring the community together. Here, you’ll also find La Cocina Cocteleria by local hospitality group, Kush, for creative “Hialeah-inspired” cocktails with tongue-and-cheek names such as Ñooo Que Bueno, Pots & Pans and Tiki-Tiki Music.
