Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill: Japanese Flavors, Floridian Vibes

You eat at Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill as much for the flavor as for the vibe. It’s one of the rare places where you can enjoy elegant sushi, carefully crafted and presented, in a dining room filled with tropical plants that exudes Miami Beach. It’s exceptional sushi with a sense of place in the historic Plymouth hotel in South Beach, just down the street from the Miami Beach Convention Center. You’ll find fried chicken with wasabi honey, grilled lamb ribs with spicy gochujang and even teppanyaki tenderloin alongside a honed list of rolls. The Blue Ribbon roll with half a chilled lobster, shiso leaves and black caviar is just one example of the thoughtful rolls served here.

Carbone: A South Beach Take on the Original

How do you make one of the hottest New York City restaurants even more interesting? Open it in South Beach. The Collins Avenue expansion of Carbone has become one of the area’s top see-and-be-seen spots, with impeccable service and classic red-sauce favorites that make it a hit with diners. All of the favorites that put the restaurant on the map are here: spicy rigatoni with vodka sauce, lobster ravioli and tortellini al ragu. Hearty dishes like fresh whole branzino, opulent steak dishes, pork chops and veal Marsala are sure to please any crowd. All of it is served in a lively atmosphere that exudes a seriously fun night out.

Casa Tua: Cozy Italian Dining In A Restaurant That Feels Like Home

A meal at Casa Tua in South Beach is like being invited into a family’s home. In this case, the family is the Grendenes, who have been in Miami since the late 1980s, and the home is a lovely lime rock manse with indoor and outdoor spaces that put you in the Miami Beach state of mind. Casa Tua exudes intimacy and exclusivity, as it also offers a membership club. Whether you choose to dine in the library or terrace, at the chef’s table or on the patio, you’ll find yourself in a unique space to indulge in expertly made Italian cuisine. Savor antipasti like Oysters Casa Tua, seared octopus or prime beef tenderloin, then move to a primi of eggplant parm or lobster linguini. The secondi feature veal Milanese and branzino. A full bar promises wines and cocktails to match.

Lucali: New York Pies, South Beach Flair

More than 10 years ago, Mark Iacono brought his Brooklyn pizzas to a quiet corner of Miami Beach. Now, Sunset Harbour is one of South Beach’s poshest areas, and Lucali is still slinging some of the destination’s best pizzas. The menu is simple but the pies are elevated, all cold-fermented, stretched by hand (and by wine bottle) and featuring quality toppings, from simple pepperoni to shallots or anchovies. Calzone lovers will be pleased by the massive servings. Chicken and eggplant parms also benefit from the wood-fire oven. And don’t forget to start with homemade meatballs. At happy hour, sneak over to the attached bar Bay Club for a drink.

Nobu: Stylish Sushi And More In Mid Beach

After over 20 years, Nobu continues to be a model of high-end sushi and Japanese cuisine in Mid Beach. Half the experience is dining in a dazzling room that makes you feel like you’ve been dropped into a sculpture. The restaurant started tanoshi hours (like happy hour) leading into dinner, which feature thoughtful and sophisticated sushi and sashimi, like toro tartare with caviar and sashimi with dry miso. But there’s more to Nobu, starting with tastings of Japanese A5 Wagyu, black cod with miso, and lobster tempura with truffle. Eating here is a robust experience.

Aba: Mediterranean Dining With a California Twist in Bal Harbour

At Aba in Bal Harbour, you’ll find Mediterranean cuisine with California influences – a modern approach to Mediterranean meals. It’s a place where the hummus is imbued with smoky garlic, the feta is whipped and the prime steak frittes are shawarma-spiced. Mix the table up with cold mezzes like a kale Caesar salad or housemade stracciatella and hot plates like green falafel and kebabs. Larger plates, like a bone-in short rib, await big appetites. The restaurant also features lesser-known varieties of Mediterranean wines.

COTE Miami: Steak, Steak and More Steak

COTE Miami, the Miami Design District outpost of New York City’s Korean steakhouse, has all the glamor of the original and adds Miami flair. Upon arriving at this MICHELIN-star restaurant, a neon hallway will lead you into an elegant dining room. All roads lead to meat, the star of the show. COTE Miami brings elegance to aged USDA Prime and American Wagyu beef grilled tableside, making for a fun night out. A Butcher’s Feast takes you on a tour of flavors, from consommé beef broth to ban-chan pickled veggies, egg souffles, two rice stews and a selection of top-quality beef with Korean sides.

Pastis: A Taste of Paris in Wynwood

The original Pastis in New York City, drawing inspiration from the avenues of Paris, helped revitalize the Meatpacking District. Now Pastis has arrived in Wynwood, an internationally known destination for art lovers. It highlights all the classic French bistro dishes, from spot-on French onion soup to steak frittes and escargot, plus bigeye tuna carpaccio. There’s even a Cheeseburger à l’Américaine for those who want to keep it simple. Prefer a raw bar, great bread and bubbly? Pastis has you covered there too.

ViceVersa: An Italian Aperitivo Bar with a Miami Twist

The team behind Jaguar Sun repeated a familiar pattern, opening a chic bar tucked into the corner of a Downtown Miami hotel that is more than the sum of its parts. With Italian-inspired cocktails, carefully crafted pizzas with luxurious toppings, and a buzzy musical vibe, ViceVersa transports you into a parenthesis of life beyond the Elser Hotel’s walls. Start with drinks like a rum-coffee old fashioned, an Oloroso sherry, or a seasonal negroni punch for the table. That will get you ready for Treasure Coast oysters with citrus mignonette and Royal Red shrimp with a cherry bomb relish. Finally, dig into a Sungold tomato pizza with guanciale and pecorino or one with mortadella, ricotta and pistachio. Of course, finish with an affogato espresso martini.
