Art Basel Miami Beach is back! Taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, this prestigious international art fair will once again bring the best artists and art galleries from across the globe to Greater Miami & Miami Beach. The 2024 edition of Art Basel Miami Beach – the event’s 22nd anniversary year – will be open to the public from December 6-8.

Today, Art Basel Miami Beach and Miami Art Week not only make up the largest art fair in North America, but together, they create one of the busiest weeks on Miami’s social calendar. With routinely more than 80,000 art collectors, aficionados and celebrities in attendance – not to mention over 280 galleries from 40 countries on display – you’ll need a game plan to know exactly how to get there and where to park. Fortunately, we’re here with insider tips on Miami Art Week transportation and parking.

Parking at the Miami Beach Convention Center

Valet parking is typically available at the Miami Beach Convention Center (where the popular Design Miami fair is also just steps away). Visitors will also find a variety of public parking lots, parking garages and street parking in the immediate area, offering easy access to Art Basel, Design Miami and other Miami Beach satellite fairs.

Various public and private parking garages and lots can be found throughout Miami Beach. Garage rates vary. Free Water Taxi and Art Week Shuttles

For the first time, this year there will be complimentary water taxis connecting Downtown Miami and Miami Beach as well as a fleet of complimentary shuttle buses in Miami Beach to transport visitors and residents to the art fairs.

Four water taxis will go back and forth across Biscayne Bay from Wednesday, December 4 to Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. to midnight, and on Sunday, December 8 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The water taxi service will run every 15 minutes between Maurice Gibb Memorial Park (1790 Purdy Avenue) in Miami Beach and the Venetian Marina & Yacht Club (1635 N. Bayshore Drive) in Miami.

Free, dedicated shuttles will run every 15 minutes throughout Miami Beach to take riders from the water taxi to various art fairs. The shuttles will be in operation during the same time periods as the water taxis.

Miami Beach Free Trolley

All year long, locals and visitors to Miami Beach can take advantage of the city’s free trolley service. There are four loops on this service: the Middle Beach Loop, North Beach Loop, Collins Express and South Beach Loop.

The Miami Beach trolleys typically operate seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. You can review routes and follow the trolley in real time by downloading the free Miami Beach Gov app. The City of Miami Beach typically adds extra trolleys during Miami Art Week.

Metromover and Downtown Miami buildings — Use the Metromover, Metrorail and Metrobus to get around Miami

Metromover, Metrorail and Metrobus

Miami-Dade Transit offers locals and visitors three options for public transportation: the Metromover, Metrorail and Metrobus.

The Miami Beach Airport Express (Route 150) runs between Miami International Airport and Miami Beach (with multiple stops between 41st Street and South Pointe Drive). This airport shuttle bus runs approximately every 20 minutes from about 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.

All bikes can be picked up and returned at any location in Miami-Dade County. Rentals start at $5.75 for 30 minutes and monthly memberships with unlimited 30-minute rides start at $20.
