Get festive with history, art and culture on Wednesday, December 18 at the Holiday edition of the Vizcaya Late after hours series.
Explore Vizcaya’s decorated Main House, where garlands, a vintage Christmas tree and a table set for entertaining recreate the holiday ambiance of over 100 years ago. Stroll through the illuminated formal gardens while sipping hot cocoa and immersing yourself in holiday cheer through performances, artmaking and storytelling.
The evening’s program includes:
- Beadwork with Briana Chrispin (6 to 8:30 p.m., South Terrace): Discover the art of storytelling through indigenous ceremonial beadwork, where each piece represents whispers of body and spirit.
- Excerpts from Black Nativity by Brevo Theater (7 to 7:15 p.m. and 7:45 to 8 p.m., Center Island): Experience this vibrant retelling of the Nativity story with African costumes and spirituals, showcasing Langston Hughes' timeless work.
- Sand Mandala Display and Buddhist Presentation (6–8 p.m., Courtyard; 8:15 to 8:50 p.m., East Terrace): Witness the creation of a sacred Tibetan mandala representing Green Tara, the deity of compassion. Learn about the tradition during a ceremonial presentation and the ritual of offering sand to the bay.
Guests can also participate in a citrus pomander craft station, where Vizcaya educators will guide you in creating a fragrant winter keepsake.
