Twyla Tharpe Dance 60th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee

Join dance legend Twyla Tharp as she celebrates six decades of innovation, re-invention and excellence in dance with a double bill of performances at The Moss Center on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2. As part of their nationwide tour, this iconic dance group, and their namesake present Twyla Tharp 60th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee, featuring two distinct works showcase Tharpe's innovative approach to dance.

The evening opens with Diabelli Variations, Tharp's Olivier-nominated piece set to Beethoven's complex and richly layered composition. Tharp’s choreography skillfully transitions between ballet, jazz and modern dance, infused with moments of social and street dance, bringing out the depth and humor in Beethoven's music. This piece, arranged and recorded by Third Coast Percussion, features a unique array of custom-designed instruments, showcasing Tharp’s continued collaboration with contemporary music.
