Celebrated environmental artist Xavier Cortada shares insights from three decades of merging creative practice with social activism and community engagement. Join the Frost Art Musem for the 145th edition of the Steven & Dorothea Green Critics' Lecture Series on Saturday, February 22 featuring renowned interdisciplinary artist Xavier Cortada
The program explores Cortada's evolution from early works with AIDS patients and incarcerated youth to his current large-scale environmental installations, including The Underwater project in Miami-Dade parks. His presentation examines the intersection of art and advocacy, drawing from his experiences creating installations at the Earth's poles and leading mangrove reforestation initiatives.
This free public lecture, supported by the Green Family Foundation, provides an opportunity to understand how artists can address contemporary environmental and social challenges through collaborative creative practice.
