Jan 23, 2025
From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Enjoy the art of dance on film with a curated selection of short and feature films as part of the ScreenDance Miami 2025 festival. On Thursday, January 23, ScreenDance Miami presents an evening of premieres at The Light Box Studio at Miami Theater Center, showcasing innovative dance films from around the world.
This event features a diverse lineup, including Cafetin de Buenos Aires: Tango Cristal (2022), a six-minute short film that blends dance and storytelling, featuring the Dimensions Dance Theater of Miami. Choreographed by Leonardo Reale and set to the music of Mariano Mores, the film is directed by Grant Gravitt and produced by Tiffany Terrell. Another highlight is Why We Dance (2024), a 42-minute documentary that explores how women in their later years use dance to foster connection and empowerment. The film examines the role of dance in overcoming isolation and celebrating life. Additionally, August Pace: 1989-2019 (2023), a 54-minute film, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the legacy of Merce Cunningham’s August Pace as the original cast members teach a new generation the choreography, thirty years after its debut.
Presented by Miami Light Project, ScreenDance Miami connects artists and audiences through the dynamic intersection of dance and film. The event is free and open to the public, though an RSVP is required.
