Samuel Sumak's Visions by UFO Collective
Through Dec 31, 2024
Mon-Fri: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM | Sat-Sun: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Opening on October 18 and running through December 31, Samuel Sumak's Visions at the Museum of Graffiti offers a compelling look into the life and work of Samuel Sumak, a key figure in Chile’s graffiti scene. The exhibition, by the U.F.O. (Unión, Fuerza, Objetivo) collective, presents a diverse collection of paintings, drawings, installations and graffiti. It features a deeply personal narrative captured in a large triptych, which Sumak has been creating over the past three years. The artwork tells the story of Sumak’s persecution in the 1990s and his transformation into Bultisam, an underground artist.
The exhibit's opening reception on Friday, October 18, from 7-10 p.m. will feature a live performance by Chilean music producer Foex, whose innovative blend of hip-hop, soul and electronica adds an experimental soundscape to the event. As a founding member of the U.F.O. collective and the urban music label Potoco Discos, Foex’s performance will enhance the immersive experience.
