Delve into the history and cultural significance of Virginia Key Beach Park with the Park Heroes & Culture Tour, a new program offered by the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust's Education Department. This informative tour, available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., sheds light on the park's storied past.
Learn about the pivotal figures who played a crucial role in establishing the park in 1945 (then known as Historic Virginia Key Beach Park) and those who fought to preserve it from development in the 1990s.
The tour goes beyond dates and names, incorporating a multimedia presentation that brings history to life through videos and photos. Additionally, the program features live accounts that spotlight the community that has frequented Virginia Key Beach for decades.
The Park Heroes & Culture Tour is a free offering for groups under 15 people. Larger groups can still participate for a nominal fee of $2 per person.
