Experience the intersection of dance, photography and music at The Betsy - South Beach on Friday, December 6. This special event kicks off the hotel's Miami Art Week programming and features the debut of a new dance piece by the Peter London Global Dance Company.
Renowned choreographer Peter London debuts a new dance piece inspired by the Everglades and the evocative photography of Clyde Butcher and Mac Stone, whose works are exhibited collaboratively by The Betsy and the Everglades Foundation. Set to a score by Grammy-nominated composer and musician Jose Elias, the performance features instrumental and field recordings created during Elias’s residency with the Everglades AIRES program. This multimedia collaboration celebrates one of America’s most captivating ecosystems through movement, sound and imagery.
Peter London, founder and artistic director of the Peter London Global Dance Company, is recognized as a leading figure in contemporary dance, drawing on his Trinidadian heritage and extensive career with the Martha Graham Company. Elias’s Everglades Songbook Suite reimagines traditional and indigenous sounds, creating a rich auditory experience that complements the dancers’ response to the photography.
The Betsy - South Beach, a Michelin Key-awarded luxury boutique hotel, serves as the perfect setting for this performance, with its reputation as a hub for arts and culture. The evening is part of a broader lineup of Art Week events at The Betsy, featuring exhibitions, installations and live music across the property’s extensive gallery spaces.
