Mozart + Bach
This event has passed.
Delve into the multigenerational link between musical masterminds and discover how J.S. Bach inspired his son and composer J.C. Bach, who later inspired the young prodigy Mozart. Join New World Symphony for a performance of Mozart + Bach, on Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24. Under the direction of violinist Shunske Sato, former Artistic Leader and Concertmaster of the Netherlands Bach Society, this program will showcase the influence of J.S. Bach on his son and how their legacy shaped the young Mozart.
The concert begins with Mozart’s Symphony No. 1, followed by the first movement from his Keyboard Concerto No. 1, inspired by J.C. Bach’s Sonata. J.C. Bach’s Symphony No. 6 in G minor continues the exploration of this musical lineage. The program also features two works by J.S. Bach, including the Concerto for Two Violins and the Fugue in E major. The evening concludes with Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, Jupiter, a masterful work that embodies the culmination of his symphonic achievements.
