GableStage kicks off its new season with the Miami premiere of King James, a play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph. Running from November 1 to 24 with performances Wednesday through Sunday, the show is a heartwarming and humorous exploration of friendship and fandom.
Set against the backdrop of LeBron James' historic return to Cleveland, King James tells the story of two unlikely friends brought together by their shared passion for the game. The play follows their relationship over twelve years, from James' rookie season to an NBA championship, highlighting the ups and downs of friendship as they navigate life through the lens of basketball. King James is described as a clever and fast-paced comedy, offering a lighthearted take on the intense world of sports fandom and the complexities of male friendship. Actor Melvin Huffnagle leads the cast in this intimate exploration of how shared passions can navigate and define turbulent relationships.
Single tickets for the play will be available starting August 27.
