Forward Motion Festival

Discover the power of inclusive dance at the 6th Annual Forward Motion Dance Festival, taking place March 8-9 at the Sandrell Rivers Theater. Presented by Karen Peterson Dancers, this inspiring festival showcases innovative performances by four guest choreographers who specialize in inclusive dance. Featured works include REVmoves by Christina Acosta, Untitled by Fran Chavez, Pulse, Impulse by Erica Lessner, and La Montaña Se Mueve by Sunsik Yoou.

On Saturday, March 8, performances are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., while Sunday, March 9, offers workshops from noon to 4:00 p.m., followed by a reception. Free and open to the public, the festival is part of Miami-Dade County Auditorium’s Away From Home Series, bringing the performing arts to alternative venues during renovations.

Forward Motion Dance Festival is inclusive of all performers, with and without disabilities. The festival challenges artistic and societal perceptions of what defines physical beauty and beautiful movement.
