On Thursday, February 27, 2025, and Saturday, March 1, 2025, Flight will take center stage at UM Gusman Concert Hall as part of the Frost School of Music’s Signature Series. This poignant opera, composed by Jonathan Dove with a libretto by April de Angelis, delves into the lives of stranded passengers navigating delays, an electrical storm and the plight of a refugee unable to leave the terminal. Inspired by the true story of an Iranian refugee who found refuge in Charles de Gaulle Airport for 18 years, Flight explores themes of chaos, camaraderie and the hidden struggles faced by travelers. Under the direction of Alan Johnson and Jeffrey Buchman, this engaging performance brings humor and poignant storytelling to the stage.
