Community Action Days at Deering Estate

Join Miami-Dade County Recreation and Parks for a rewarding morning of environmental stewardship at Deering Estate, on the second Saturday of each month from October 12, 2024 through May 10, 2025. As part of ongoing efforts to preserve and restore this historic site, volunteers are invited to lend a hand. Guided by the Deering Estate's team of naturalists, volunteers will participate in various projects, including beautification efforts, plantings, environmental stewardship and conservation. Activities may involve invasive plant removal, planting, mulching and cleaning up litter throughout the estate.

For those seeking community service hours, a letter will be provided upon request, after the event.

Volunteer requirements:

• Age 15 or older
• Pre-registration required
• Arrive a few minutes early for check-in
• Wear closed-toe shoes, long sleeve shirts, long pants and bring a reusable water bottle

What will be provided:

• Gloves
• Water cooler
• Receptacles for removed trash and plant material
