Chamber Music: Crider Sings Ravel + Copland
This event has passed.
Enjoy an afternoon of evocative chamber music on Sunday, November 17, at the New World Symphony. The concert features mezzo-soprano Amanda Crider alongside NWS fellows, in a program that brings together a collection of works inspired by travel, poetry and the interplay of cultures.
The concert opens with Copland’s As it Fell Upon a Day, a piece that reflects the young composer’s early encounters with English poetry while studying in Paris. Jonathan Bailey Holland’s Mobius offers a modern exploration of the Möbius strip illusion through a playful and innovative composition. Crider’s performance of Ravel’s Trois poèmes de Mallarmé and Delage’s Quatre poèmes hindous transports the audience to distant lands, blending the beauty of words and music. The program also includes Roussel’s Sérénade for Flute, Harp and Strings and Rachmaninoff’s Trio élégiaque No. 1.
