Billie Zangewa: Field of Dreams

Billie Zangewa: Field of Dreams opens at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum on Saturday, November 23, 2024. This solo exhibition highlights new and recent works by Zangewa, known for her intricate collages crafted from hand-stitched fragments of raw silk. Reflecting the transformative process of silk production, Zangewa’s art explores personal and collective challenges, transforming complex emotions into compelling visual narratives.

In Field of Dreams, Zangewa moves beyond her familiar domestic themes, contemplating the human condition and the interconnectedness of all living things. The works in this exhibition also delve into the sociopolitical issues that shape communities and individuals. For the first time, Zangewa incorporates beveled, antiqued mirrors into her compositions, adding a literal and metaphorical layer of reflection. The exhibition will be on view until April 13, 2025.
